Project overview
We produced a public health documentary film on antimicrobial resistance for HEPS Uganda and Baylor Foundation Uganda. The project aimed to raise awareness about AMR, its causes, and its growing impact on families, hospitals, and the health system in Uganda.
What we did
Our team handled on-location filming, expert interviews, and real-life storytelling. The production combined medical explanations from health professionals with a personal family story to make a complex public health issue easy to understand.
Story summary
The film opens by showing everyday medicine practices in Ugandan homes that contribute to antimicrobial resistance. Doctors explain how misuse and underuse of antibiotics allow bacteria to become resistant, making common infections harder and more expensive to treat. The story follows Dr. Joseph and his son James, whose illness did not respond to standard treatment due to drug resistance. Through medical insight and lived experience, the film highlights the national impact of AMR and the urgent need for proper diagnosis, regulation, and public awareness. It closes with hope, showing how improved diagnostics, vaccination programs, and partner support are helping Uganda respond to the AMR threat.
